As a player, Knoblauch was a two-time All-MAC Second-Team selection, and she was named to the Academic All-MAC First Team as a senior. She led the league in assists in each of her last two seasons, and still holds all of the school records in that category.
ABOUT THE FALCONS: BGSU brings a 3-10 overall record into the week, and the Falcons are 1-2 in MAC play heading into the UT game. Last week, the Falcons posted an 80-69 road win at Central Michigan Thursday (Jan. 6) before falling at home to Buffalo, 85-81, two days later (Jan. 8).

SCOUTING UT: Toledo will bring a 4-8 overall record into tomorrow's BGSU game. The Rockets are 1-1 in MAC play after Saturday's 73-66 win over visiting Miami. Also last week, UT suffered an overtime loss at Western Michigan, 67-66, Wednesday (Jan. 5). Individually, senior center Jennifer Markwood leads the team with 12.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, and also has a team-high 11 blocked shots. SCOUTING OU: Ohio enters the week with a 6-7 overall record, and the Bobcats will bring a 1-1 MAC record into a Wednesday (Jan. 12) contest at Kent. OU, 4-2 at home this season, beat visiting Central Michigan, 73-61 (Jan. 2) to open MAC play before falling at Buffalo by a 73-53 score Wednesday (Jan. 5). A pair of sophomores, Jacquie Negrelli and Cathy Szall, pace the team in scoring, with 16.0 and 13.8 points per game, respectively. Negrelli also leads the team with 5.9 assists per outing. SCOUTING KSU: Kent is 9-4 overall, and the Golden Flashes are currently 3-0 in MAC action. The Flashes, riding a six-game win streak, will host OU Wednesday and head to Buffalo Saturday before facing the Falcons two days later. KSU has a 24-game homecourt winning streak, one of the longest in the nation. Last week, the Flashes won a Tuesday (Jan. 4) game at Eastern Michigan, 87-69, before downing visiting Akron by an 86-60 verdict Saturday (Jan. 8). Senior guard Dawn Zerman paces a balanced scoring attack with 17.8 points per game, and she also leads the team in assists (3.7 apg) and steals (3.8 spg). Junior center Julie Studer averages 12.9 points and a team-high 4.6 rebounds, while junior guard Carrie Nance is scoring 10.3 points. Kent won the MAC's East Division with a 14-2 league record last year, and the team was 22-7 overall. Bob Lindsay is 195-108 in his 11th year, all in Kent.
THE SERIES: The Falcons lead the all-time series with 11 of the 12 MAC opponents (BG trails Buffalo, 2-1). BGSU holds advantages of 27-21 over Toledo, 29-16 against Ohio and 31-19 vs. Kent.
The Falcons are 9-12 all-time in road games vs. Toledo, and BG will look to break a three-game overall losing streak against the Rockets. UT captured the last meeting at Savage Hall, an 88-75 non-conference game last season (Dec. 19, 1998). The Rockets swept the season series with a 79-65 win at Anderson Arena (Jan. 13, 1999). UT has won 10 of the last 12 games in the series.
BGSU is 9-11 in road games vs. Ohio, and the Bobcats have captured the last five games there. Overall, BGSU has won three of the last four games, including last year's only meeting, a 97-89 win at Anderson Arena (Jan. 20, 1999). The home team has captured the last eight games in the series. The last game in Athens was a 96-79 Bobcat win two years ago (Feb. 21, 1998).
BGSU is 11-10 in road games vs. Kent, but the Golden Flashes have won the last five games in the M.A.C. Center, including a 91-60 win in last year's only meeting (Feb. 4, 1999). The teams have met once this season already, an 82-61 KSU verdict at Anderson in the MAC opener for both teams (Jan. 2, 2000). Overall, Kent has won the last three games and eight of the last nine contests.
LAST WEEK: The Falcons split a pair of games last week ... Francine Miller scored a career-high 28 points, including 20 in the second half, as the Falcons recorded the first MAC win of the season, 80-69 at Central Michigan Thursday (Jan. 6) ... the victory snapped a school record-tying seven-game losing streak ... the lead changed hands eight times in the first half, with the Chippewas leading by as many as seven points (19-12) midway through ... BGSU, which never led by more than four points in the half, took a three-point lead on a three-pointer by Kim Griech with 29 seconds left in the half ... the Falcons would not trail again ... the home team tied the score at 40-all early in the second stanza, but a Miller trey gave BGSU the lead for good ... the Falcons took a 10-point lead on a Jaymee Wappes triple at the 9:45 mark, and Central never got closer than five points thereafter ... after the Wappes "three," Miller scored 14 of BG's next 16 points ... she made six of the Falcons' last eight field goals of the game, and pulled down 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, and her fourth in six games ... Angie Farmer joined Miller in double digits with 19 points, while Sherry Kahle had a career-best 14 rebounds ... Wappes had nine points and seven assists while playing all 40 minutes ... Jodi Culbertson's 16 points paced four Chippewas in double digits ... on Saturday (Jan. 8), the Falcons dropped an 85-81 decision to visiting Buffalo ... the Brown and Orange fell after leading by 20 points in the second half ... the Falcons shot .680 from the field in the first half, then made 7-of-8 field goals to start the second stanza en route to the 20-point lead ... a Dana Western layup gave the Brown and Orange a 59-39 edge with 13:39 remaining ... additionally, junior Tiffany Bell, UB's top scorer and rebounder, had gone out with an injury three minutes earlier ... Bell had struggled to that point, scoring just six points and grabbing two rebounds ... but, the Bulls did not knuckle under, going on an 18-1 run over the next six minutes ... a Colleen Tabor three-pointer made the lead 60-57, BG, with just under eight minutes remaining ... Farmer, who led the Falcons with 20 points, responded with a three-pointer, and the Falcons moved the lead back out to eight points ... a Miller "three" gave BG a seven-point margin, 71-64, with 4:51 left ... from there, however, Kim Kilpela and Tara Perrier took over ... Kilpela, who replaced Bell in the post, scored 10-straight points at one stretch, and a pair of Perrier three-pointers gave Buffalo the lead for good with 1:42 remaining ... UB had entered the game with a team total of 14 successful three-pointers on the year, but made nine against BG, including seven in the second half ... Perrier, who scored a game-high 26 points, had seven triples vs. the Falcons after converting six in the previous 12 games ... three Falcon players joined Farmer in double digits ... Miller had 18 points before fouling out with three minutes to go, while Western had 13 points on perfect 5-of-5 shooting ... Western converted two three-pointers as BG went 9-of-14 from long range ... Kahle had 12 points and nine rebounds ... Wappes dished out nine assists and had three steals on the afternoon ... for the Bulls, Kilpela had 18 points, while Sonia Ortega just missed a triple-double ... Ortega had 14 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
SISTER ACT: Senior Sherry Kahle's parents will have mixed emotions when the Falcons take the court at Toledo Tuesday ... Kahle's younger sister, Teresa, is a freshman forward for the Rockets ... Teresa has played in all 12 UT games to date, starting one ... she is averaging 1.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game ... Tuesday's game is the only regular-season meeting between the Falcons and Rockets.
WEARY WAPPES: Senior point guard Jaymee Wappes leads the Falcons with an average of 34.2 minutes played per game ... over the last six contests, Wappes has played 233 of the 240 minutes ... Wappes played all 40 minutes vs. both UNC Charlotte and Central Michigan ... she missed one minute vs. both Washington State (collided with Sherry Kahle while diving for a loose ball) and Hampton (collided with a Lady Pirate player) due to injuries ... in the latter contest, she was back at the scorer's table almost immediately, ready to check into the game ... Wappes played "only" 37 minutes against Kent and 38 vs. Buffalo ... in those six games, she dished out 43 assists while committing just 23 turnovers ... she also had 51 points.
MILLER BACK TO FORM: Sophomore Francine Miller was held to a season-low four points vs. Kent, but she bounced back in a big way at Central Michigan ... Miller scored a career-high 28 points vs. the Chippewas, including 20 in the second half ... she also had 10 rebounds ... Miller scored six of the Falcons' last eight baskets of the game, and scored 14 of BG's 16 points in one second-half stretch ... Miller added 18 points vs. Buffalo ... she shot a stellar .720 (18 of 25) from the field in last week's two games.
YOU MAY FIRE WHEN READY, MA'AM: Last year, BG broke the school single-season records in both three-pointers attempted and made ... the Falcons made 135 treys in an even 400 attempts ... those totals shattered the old records of 97 triples made and 296 attempted, set by the 1994-95 squad ... those records, less than one year old, are in serious jeopardy ... this year, through 13 games, BGSU has attempted 289 treys, making 109 ... that is an average of 8.4 three-pointers made and 22.2 attempted per game ... those numbers project to 218 successful "threes" in 578 attempts over a 26-game schedule.
THEY'RE FIRING AWAY, TOO: Believe it or not, opponents have hoisted a total of 346 shots from behind the arc, an average of 26.6 per game ... BG foes have made 118 treys this year ... the opponents have taken at least 15 three-point shots in every game but one (Kent tried just 13), and have shot 20 or more treys eight times ... the opponent has taken 41 three-point attempts on three occasions this season.
FARMER'S (AND BGSU'S) MARKSMANSHIP: The NCAA released the latest women's basketball statistics Tuesday (Jan. 4), and the Falcons were listed in several three-point shooting categories ... individually, junior Angie Farmer was ranked among the national leaders in three-point field-goals per game ... Farmer was tied for 17th in the nation with an average of 2.8 successful triples per game ... since that time, her average has increased to 2.9 ... as a team, the Falcons LED THE NATION in three-pointers made per game, with 8.4 ... BGSU currently averages 8.38 successful treys per game ... the next NCAA stats are scheduled to be released late Tuesday (Jan. 11) or early Wednesday (Jan. 12).

Farmer is fourth all-time with her 71 three-pointers made, while Miller is fifth with 55 ... seniors Jaymee Wappes and Sherry Kahle are close behind with 50 apiece ... Kahle is fourth all-time with 172 three-point attempts, while Farmer is fifth with 162 tries and Wappes is sixth with 146 attempts ... Miller is ninth with 123 all-time attempts ... the complete three-point lists follow:

Kahle donned the clear mask after suffering a black eye and a bruised cheekbone in the Washington State game, and having the injury reaggravated several times since ... Kahle again wore the mask in the Buffalo contest.
BGSU SIGNS THREE: Head coach Dee Knoblauch announced the signing of three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period ... on Nov. 17, the Falcons announced that Andrea Ault, Kelly Kapferer and Stefanie Wenzel will join the BGSU program next year ... Ault is a 6-0 forward who attends Urbana High School in Urbana, Ohio ... Kapferer, a 6-2 forward from Jefferson, Ohio, currently attends Jefferson H.S. ... Wenzel, a 6-0 guard from Sussex, Wis., attends Arrowhead Union H.S. in Hartland ... the Falcons plan to sign one more player during the late signing period in April.
WELCOME BACK: The Falcons have just five returnees from the 1998-99 squad ... in fact, only three players on the 12-woman roster were at BGSU prior to head coach Dee Knoblauch's arrival in August of 1998 ... those three are senior co-captains Sherry Kahle and Jaymee Wappes and junior Angie Farmer ... sophomores Francine Miller and Dana Western round out the returning players for the Brown and Orange.
MEET THE NEW KIDS: Seven of the 12 players on the Falcon roster are newcomers, including six freshmen ... junior transfer Afra Smith, redshirt freshman Rachal Hamilton and true frosh Pam Brown, Kim Griech, Megan Jerome, Regina Smith and Karen Stocz all joined the BG squad this fall ... in the Ole Miss game (Nov. 26), the Falcons had five freshmen on the floor at the same time, for the first time this year ... Hamilton entered the BG lineup with 3:06 remaining in that contest, joining classmates Griech, Jerome, Smith and Stocz.
TAKE A NUMBER: Several of the returning players have changed uniform numbers ... after wearing #31 for three years, Sherry Kahle is wearing #30 as a senior ... sophomore Dana Western was #25 a year ago, but will don #44 this season ... only Angie Farmer (#24), Francine Miller (#22) and Jaymee Wappes (#33) are wearing the same uniforms as in 1998-99.
TAKE A NUMBER II: Additionally, freshman Megan Jerome has gotten into the number-changing act, beginning at the Virginia Tech tournament ... her orange jersey was misplaced following the Falcons' Dec. 29 game vs. UNC Charlotte ... Jerome (who normally wears uniform #5) donned #34 the following night against Hampton ... she also wore #34 at Central Michigan.
KAHLE ANSWERS THE BELL: Senior Sherry Kahle has played in all 97 games since her arrival on the BGSU campus in the fall of 1996 ... she has started 69 contests in her career, including the last 40 games ... Kahle is BG's top active scorer with 750 points.
