Women's Basketball Team Still Leads Nation in Three-Pointers Per Game

The NCAA has released the latest Division I women's basketball statistics, and Bowling Green State University is listed in a number of categories. As a team, the Falcons continue to lead the nation in three-point field goals made per game, with an average of 8.8 (NCAA stats through games of Monday, Jan. 17). Through 16 contests this season, BGSU has made a total of 141 three- pointers, having already set a school single-season record, for an average of 8.8 per game. The "old" school record of 135 successful three-pointers in a season was set just last winter. BG made 14 treys on Monday (Jan. 17) at Kent, tying the BGSU single-game record set earlier this season vs. Ole Miss.
BGSU has improved to 12th in the nation in free-throw percentage, with a success rate of .749. The Falcons were ranked 13th in that category in last week's NCAA stats.
Individually, junior Angie Farmer ranks among the national leaders in three-point field goals made per game. Farmer has made 46 in 16 contests, an average of 2.9 successful treys per outing. That average ties her for 18th in the nation. Farmer hit six "three's" at Ohio Saturday (Jan. 15), just one away from her own school record.
Sophomore Francine Miller is 18th in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage, with a success rate of .468. Miller made six treys in eight attempts in the KSU game, en route to a 35-point night. That point total tied the school single-game mark.
The NCAA Division I statistics are released each week (generally late Tuesday or early Wednesday) during the season. National stats will be released each week through March 4.
BGSU is 4-12 overall, and 2-4 in Mid-American Conference play, heading into Thursday's (Jan. 20) contest vs. Western Michigan University. That game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at BG's venerable Anderson Arena.
