Bowling Green State University assistant baseball coach Mark Nell has resigned to accept a teaching position at Wynn Elementary School in the Oregon (OH) City School District.
Nell joined Danny Schmitz's staff in 1990 and has helped the Falcons to three Mid-American Conference titles and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament the last two seasons.
"This is a very emotional time for me," said Nell. "It was not an easy decision because I have absolutely loved the last nine years, but the teaching schedule is going to be more conducive to my family's schedule."
Nell, a 1985 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, is currently completing work on his master's degree in School Administration at BGSU.
A major reason for the Falcon baseball program's resurrection over the years, Nell has been directly responsible for recruiting many of the players that have donned the Brown and Orange during the 1990s. Seven Falcons have earned All-Mideast honors, with two also receiving All-American accolades.
A search will be conducted immediately for a replacement.
