In voting conducted by the Eastern League sports writers and radio announcers, former Falcon Andy Tracy was selected as the Chase Manhattan Bank Eastern League Most Valuable Player.
Harrisburg Senator slugger Andy Tracy enjoyed a remarkable season, playing an instrumental role in his club's history-making campaign. The Bowling Green, Ohio native led the EL with a modern franchise record of 128 RBI and placed second on the circuit with 37 home runs, a new Harrisburg record. Overall, Tracy posted a batting average of .274 (135 for 493). The 6'3", 220-lb. left-handed batter also placed in the Eastern League top five with a .560 slugging percentage (5th), 65 extra-base hits (1st), and 96 runs scored (3rd).
