After a frigid start, the Falcons rallied for a four-game win (11-15, 15-8, 15-3, 15-2) on "Senior Night" at Anderson Arena. The win was BG's seventh at home this season, the team's most since 1995. BGSU won for the 19th time overall, the most since the 20-win squad of 1993.
The fans had hardly settled into their seats when visiting Vikings burst out to a 10-0 lead. The Falcons rallied from a 13-3 deficit to narrow the gap to 14-11, but CSU scored the final point to capture the game. The Vikes would total only 13 points the rest of the night, however.
BGSU's offense came alive in the second game as the Brown and Orange hit .406. Melissa Lewis, one of the team's four seniors, had five kills in the second game after a seven-kill performance in the first. Lewis had a match-high 18 kills on the night. Senior Kris Pesorda had five of her nine kills in game two.
Lori Kemerer, yet another senior, led the Falcons with six kills in the third game, as BG began to take control of the match. BG held the Vikings to a hitting percentage of .070 in that third game.
In game four, the Falcons recorded four of the night's 10 blocks, helping CSU into 13 attack errors and a hitting percentage of -.188. On the evening, the Falcons hit .315 to the Vikings' .073.
Kemerer joined Lewis in double digits with 14 kills, while sophomore Amber Vorst hit .583 (8-1-12). Senior setter Heather Greig had 42 assists in the win.
Defensively, Vorst had a match-best 15 digs, while Pesorda and Kemerer each had 10. Lewis had three solo blocks and five total rejections on the night.
