The Brown and Orange won for the 11th time in 12 matches, with a three-game win (15-13, 15-10, 15-5) over the visiting Huskies. With the victory, the Falcons clinched a spot in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The top-eight teams will qualify for the tourney, which begins Nov. 23.
The Falcons broke out to a 5-0 lead in game one, but NIU rallied. The visitors scored eight consecutive points to take a 12-9 lead, but BG scored the next three points and five of the next six markers for the win.
In game two, BG saw an 8-2 lead evaporate, but the Falcons scored seven of the final nine points for the win. It was all Falcons in game three, as BG took a 12-1 lead en route to the win.
The Brown and Orange hit .305 for the night, including a stellar .464 in the final game. Three BGSU seniors hit in the high .300s, as Melissa Lewis had a match-high 17 kills and a .378 hitting percentage. Lori Kemerer hit .385 with 14 kills, while Kris Pesorda hit .368 and had nine kills on the evening.
The team's fourth senior, Heather Greig, had 47 assists and four service aces, while sophomore Amber Vorst had a team-best 10 digs. Kemerer and Lewis had five and four total blocks, respectively.
NIU's Mandy Swick had 13 kills and 13 digs to lead the team in both categories.
