The Falcons gutted out a five-game win (15-8, 7-15, 15-9, 13-15, 15-13) on the road, in a match that took 2:24 to play. A number of Falcon players posted eye-popping numbers, including Melissa Lewis and Lori Kemerer. Lewis set career highs with 31 kills and 22 digs. Her kills total fell just four shy of the single-match record.
Kemerer recorded a triple-double, with 12 kills, 22 digs and 10 blocks. She tied her career high in total blocks, and her digs total moved her past the 1,000 mark for her career. In fact, Kemerer became just the third player in school history to amass 1,000 kills, 1,000 digs and 400 blocks. She now has 1,071 kills, 1,008 digs and 447 total blocks to join Lisa Mika (1988-91) and BGSU Hall-of-Famer Tammy Schiller (1998-91) in that elite group.
In addition to the 22-dig totals by Lewis and Kemerer, Amber Vorst set a career standard with 22 digs of her own. Heather Greig dished out a season-high 61 assists, and her career-high 21 digs gave BG four players with over 20 digs on the night.
Caty Rommeck set a season high in kills for the third consecutive match, with 12, while Karen Tangeman had the first three service aces of her career to lead BG in that department.
