BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - One Bowling Green State University men's tennis doubles team defeated a pair of Falcon teammates Tuesday (Oct. 10), as the 2000 BGSU/Keefe Invitational officially came to an end.
Sophomores Geoff Hiscox and Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo posted an 8-4 victory over the team of junior Vitek Wild and senior Brandon Gabel, in the process winning the "A" flight.
The match was held as part of Tuesday's practice. The rest of the Keefe Invite was completed on Sunday (Oct. 8), but the two Falcon teams had not yet played the championship round of their doubles flight.
The completion of the doubles competition means that BGSU players captured every flight of the tournament. Wild won the singles "A" flight, while freshman Nick Moxley took the "B" flight crown. Sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo, the twin brother of Nicolas, won the "C" flight.
In addition to the Hiscox/Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo title at the top doubles flight, the BG tandem of Micael Lopez-Acevedo and fellow sophomore Peter Gardonyi won the "B" doubles flight.
BGSU will return to action Friday (Oct. 13), taking part in the Rocket Invitational in Toledo.
