SERIES HISTORY
The Bowling Green State University hockey team will have its first home series this weekend (Friday - Sunday) when the Michigan Wolverines visit the BGSU Ice Arena. BG and Michigan split their four meetings last season (2-2-0) with each school recording a 1-1 mark at home. The Falcon - Wolverine series, with 86 all-time meetings, is the fourth longest for BG (Ohio State - 134, Lake Superior - 114 and Western Michigan - 106). Michigan won the first 11 meetings including the first game by a CCHA team in the NCAA tournament (Michigan defeated BG 7-5 on Mar. 20, 1977 in an NCAA Quarterfinal contest). BG's Peter Wilson's first collegiate goal in overtime against Michigan on Oct. 17, 1980, gave the Falcons their first series win versus the Wolverines. Michigan had won 10 straight meetings before last season's 2-2 head-to-head-record. Buddy Powers has a 3-18-1 record against the Wolverines as BGSU's bench boss.
