BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The NCAA has released the latest volleyball statistics, and Bowling Green State University student-athletes are represented in several categories. Freshman Susie Norris (Bascom, Ohio/Hopewell-Loudon) and junior Caty Rommeck (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II) are ranked in digs and blocks, respectively. The NCAA statistics are current through matches of Nov. 5.
Norris, a left-side hitter, is ranked 11th nationally with 4.32 digs per game. Rider's Evette Hoeffner paces the country with 5.55 digs per contest.
Rommeck, a middle hitter/blocker, is currently 19th in the country in blocks, averaging 1.49 blocks per game. Nebraska's Amber Holmquist leads the nation with 1.87 blocks per game.
As a team, the Falcons are ranked 14th in the nation in digs for the second-straight week, with an average of 19.01 per game. Austin Peay averages a national-best 21.08 digs per game.
After Tuesday's (Nov. 7) win over Oakland University, Norris is now averaging 4.37 digs, while Rommeck has 1.46 blocks per game. The Falcons are averaging 19.14 digs as a team.
The Falcons (17-8 overall, 9-6 MAC) of head coach Denise Van De Walle will embark upon a four-match road swing to end the regular season. BGSU will take on Miami University in a Mid-American Conference match Friday (Nov. 10), and the Falcons will meet the MAC's East Division leader, Ohio University, Saturday (Nov. 11). Start time for each match is set for 7:00 p.m.
