BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University volleyball head coach Denise Van De Walle has announced the signing of a student-athlete to a National Letter of Intent. Melissa Mohr will join the Falcons for the 2001-02 academic year.
Mohr, a native of Millersburg, Ohio, currently attends West Holmes High School. This fall, the 5-11 middle blocker/left-side hitter was named to the All-Ohio First Team for head coach Jim Park.
"I first saw Melissa play at the end of her sophomore year," said Van De Walle. "I decided then and there that I wanted her to be a Falcon.
"Melissa will play either middle or left side for us. She was the Ohio Division II Player of the Year this year, and is a really dynamite, explosive jumper. I am very excited to have her be a part of the Falcon program.
"Melissa comes from a very strong club program as well as high-school program, so she is used to winning. She will fit right into the winning tradition that we have established here."
The Falcons completed the 2000 season with an overall record of 21-9, and BGSU tied for the East Division title in the Mid-American Conference with a league record of 12-6. BGSU has gone 42-21 over the last two years, and the Falcons lose just two seniors, including one starter, off the 2000 squad.
