He spent one season as the head coach at Rochester Institute of Technology (1988-89) leading the Tigers to a second-place finish in the Division III national championships.
REVIEWING THE NEBRASKA-OMAHA GAME ...
Bowling Green had its 1999-2000 campaign come to an end Tuesday night at Nebraska-Omaha by a 3-1 score in a CCHA Championship Play-In game.
The Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior blueliner Michael Jones scored during a 4-on-3 BG power play at the 14:48 mark of the opening period. After taking a pass at the blueline from Grady Moore, Jones did a give-and-go with Greg Day and buried the return pass between Maverick goalie Kendall Sidoruk's legs.
BG was whistled for two penalties at the 15:27 mark of the first period, and UNO's Jeff Hoggan scored during the ensuing 5-on-3 power play with 3:01 remaining in the stanza.
The second period featured outstanding goaltending by BG freshman Tyler Masters, who stopped all 18 UNO shots. The Falcons were outshot 32-12 over the first two periods but the game was tied at one heading into the third period.
Bowling Green had taken an apparent 2-1 lead in the first minute of the third period when Scott Hewson banged in his own rebound. The goal light was turned on, and after the three on-ice officials conferred and also spoke with the goal judge, the goal was disallowed.
UNO grabbed a 2-1 advantage with 4:15 remaining in the third period when Hoggan sent a shot past Masters.
The final goal of the game was disputed as well. Hoggan appeared to have played the puck with a high stick to the left of his goalie, but no call was made and David Brisson scored into an empty net.
Had the high stick call been made, a face-off would have taken place to Sidoruk's left with nearly 30 seconds remaining. Masters finished the contest with 39 saves, while Sidoruk made 14 of his 25 saves in the third period.
