The Bowling Green State University baseball team had its five game winning streak end at Notre Dame Wednesday evening. The Fighting Irish edged the Falcons by a 2-1 score.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when sophomore first baseman Sean Ryan led off with a solo home run to right center.
The Irish scored both of their runs in the second inning off rookie Aaron Nease, who was making his first collegiate start. After retiring the first batter, Nease hit Andrew Bushey, walked Matt Strickroth and hit Jeff Perconte to load the bases. Ken Meyer followed with a sacrifice fly to left while UND's second run came in on a throwing error by Kenny Burdine.
Nease pitched four innings and allowed two hits, two runs (one earned), while striking out one. Brad Henry pitched three scoreless allowing one hit, with Chad Curlis tossing one scoreless inning.
