Hockey Team Presents 1999-2000 Awards

Senior defenseman B.J. Adams (Scarborough, ONT/Stratford Cullitons) was named the winner of the Jim Ruehl Award for Best Defensive Player. Adams played in 35 games recording a team-best plus/minus rating of +7. Adams also received the Jim Sears Award as the Bowling Green State University hockey team's "Most Valuable Player" at the squad's annual recognition dinner held Saturday evening in the University's Olscamp Hall on the BGSU campus.
Senior center Adam Edinger (Toledo, OH/Leamington, ONT Flyers/Springfield High) received the Sam Cooper Trophy given to the team's leading scorer. He paced the Falcons with 32 points on 14 goals and 18 assists. Edinger led the squad with four game-winning assists. After a slow start, he had 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points in the final 25 games.
Sophomore wing Scott Hewson (N. Vancouver, BC/Penticton Panthers) was honored with the Bill & Helen Lloyd Award for the being the Most Improved Player. Hewson had seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 30 games with a plus/minus rating of +2. He had one goal and six assists for seven points in his rookie campaign.
Senior Zach Ham (Spokane, WA/Waterloo, IA Black Hawks) received the Jack Gregory (Scholar-Athlete) Award. He was recently named to both the GTE District IV Academic First Team and the CCHA All-Academic First Team for the second consecutive year. Ham was also the recipient of the Howard Brown (Coaches') Award. After playing through back injuries his first three years and having back surgery in April 1999, Ham played in all 37 games during the 1999-2000 season as a defensive forward.
Michael Jones (Toledo, OH/Cleveland Junior Barons/Sylvania Northview), a senior defenseman, received the second annual Dr. Ron Zwierlein Leadership Award, which is presented to the Falcon hockey player who provides leadership that draws the team together to accomplish positive change, and through his leadership skills makes a difference that benefits BGSU hockey.
Junior blueliner Doug Schueller (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Twin Cities Vulcans) received the Rink Rats Award for being most popular with the Falcon fans.
Mike Ward was bestowed the Dr. Thomas Wojciechowski Recognition Award for his distinguished service to the program.
