Men's Tennis Wins At NIU, 5-2

The Bowling Green men's tennis team used wins at the top four singles flights to record a 5-2 victory at Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference dual-match action Sunday (April 9). The Falcons improve to 12-6 overall, and 2-0 in MAC play, with the victory.
BGSU's four straight-sets singles wins came from sophomore Vitek Wild at the top flight, freshmen Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and Geoff Hiscox at the second and third flights, respectively, and sophomore Mike Kossoff at flight #4.
Sophomore Ed Kuresman and senior Brandon Gabel competed at the fifth and sixth singles levels, respectively, each losing in three sets. Kuresman dropped his third set by a 7-5 score, while Gabel was defeated by a 6-2 score in the decisive set.
In doubles action, the Gabel/Wild team won at the top level, while the team of Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo and his twin brother, freshman Micael Lopez-Acevedo, was victorious at the third flight. BGSU's second-flight duo of Hiscox and Kuresman fell by an 8-6 count.
The Falcons will complete the home portion of the schedule this week, hosting Ball State in a Thursday (April 13) dual before facing defending MAC champion Western Michigan Saturday (April 15) at Keefe Courts. Thursday's BSU match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., while the WMU contest is set for an 11:00 a.m. start.
