CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University sophomore Jill Conover (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Sept. 18). Conover earns the honor for the second time in her BGSU career.
Conover, a forward, had a hand in all three BGSU goals as the Falcons opened MAC play with a win on the road against Central Michigan, 3-1, Friday (Sept. 15). Conover scored the first goal of the match, then had the primary assist on each of BGSU's other two goals, scored by senior Janice Mentrup and sophomore Tracy Gleixner, respectively.
The Falcons of first-year coach Andy Richards, now 3-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in MAC play, were picked to finish eighth in the league race in the preseason coaches poll, while CMU was tabbed to finish second.
Conover leads the Falcons in scoring, with nine points (three goals, three assists) through six matches. She also led the Brown and Orange in scoring last year, with 20 points in her freshman campaign.
BGSU will return to action Friday (Sept. 22), taking on arch-rival Toledo in a 4:00 p.m. road match.
