Susie Norris Named MAC Defensive Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University freshman Susie Norris has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office has announced. Norris, a native of Bascom, Ohio, earns the honor for the first time in her brief Falcon career.
Norris, a freshman left-side hitter, earned the league award after averaging 5.25 digs per game in her first weekend of collegiate action. She led the team in digs in each of the Falcons' three matches at the IU Credit Union/Hoosier Invitational last weekend (Sept. 1-2).
In her collegiate debut, Norris had 16 digs against Loyola (Ill.), adding three service aces and seven kills. She had 17 digs and nine kills against host Indiana, and capped off the weekend with 12 kills and a whopping 30 digs vs. Cincinnati.
A graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School, Norris currently leads the league in digs (63) and digs per game. She also paced the Falcons with five aces (0.42 per game), and added 2.33 kills and 0.42 blocks per game.
The Falcons (1-2) will head to Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Tournament this weekend (Sept. 8-9). BGSU will face Western Carolina and Florida International, in addition to host Central Florida.
