Bowling Green, Ohio - Patrick Jackson's steal and layup with 26 seconds remaining gave Ball State the lead for good, and two Theron Smith free throws sealed the deal as the visiting Cardinals defeated Bowling Green, 62-59, Saturday afternoon. The Falcons took a 59-58 lead with 51 seconds remaining on a 3-pointer by Brandon Pardon.
"Of all the games we've played this season, this is probably the hardest to take," said BGSU Coach Dan Dakich.
Three Falcons scored in double figures, with Keith McLeod's 15 leading the way. Trent Jackson added 14 points, while Cory Ryan pitched in 10. Pardon finished the game with 10 assists in addition to six points. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Jackson, who had 14 points.
The loss drops the Falcons to 6-9 on the season and 2-4 in the MAC. Ball State improves to 9-6 on the season, with a 4-2 MAC record. Bowling Green will next be in action at Kent State on Saturday, January 27th.
"Any time you can hold Bowling Green to 37 percent shooting in their own building, you have to be pleased," said Ball State Coach Tim Buckley.
