Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Dan Dakich has announced the signing of two players from Columbus to national letters of intent to attend BGSU and play basketball for the Falcons next year.
Ron Lewis, a 6-4 wing, and Raheem Moss, a 6-3 shooting guard, were part of the Brookhaven team that went 26-1 losing only to Cincinnati Elder in the Division I state semifinal, last season.
"They're both very good athletes, and very good students. They come from a winning program, so they know how to play and how to win," said Dakich. "We're excited about them coming here. With the players we'll lose to graduation this year, we felt like we needed to bring in a couple of really good players, and these kids fit that description. They have played in some big games -- they went all the way to the state tournament last year."
The Falcon coaching staff made a positive impression with the duos high school coach.
"When they made their visit to Bowling Green, that pretty much did it as far as making up their minds where they'd go," Brookhaven Coach Bruce Howard said. "They had a good chemistry with the players there, and it was a great fit in a lot of ways. You want your kids to end up in good programs with a lot of integrity, and in programs where kids graduate, and I think they found all of that at Bowling Green."
Lewis, a 6-4 wing player who led Brookhaven with 59 dunks last season, averaged 16.2 points per game on a team with five players scoring in double figures. Moss, a 6-3 shooting guard, averaged 14 points per game and was the team's best 3-point shooter.
"Both of them can play. We liked the way they approached the game, and the way they handled themselves in big games," said Dakich. "We'll need that kind of player next year, so we're excited to have them coming to Bowling Green."
