Basketball Edges Out Marist, 61-58

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Center Len Matela scored 21 points and had 17 rebounds as Bowling Green beat Marist 61-58 Saturday.
Matela scored 10 in the first half and 11 in the second. Keith McLeod scored 16 and Brandon Pardon scored 11 for the Falcons (5-1).
The Falcons never trailed the Red Foxes (4-2) and lead by seven with 5:18 left to play. But Marist cut the lead to 60-58 with 10 seconds left on Nick Eppehimer's layup.
McLeod's free throw one second later gave the Falcons a three-point lead, and Sean Kennedy missed a 3-pointer that would have tied the game.
Eppehimer scored 15 points, 12 of those in the second half. Kennedy added 10 more.
Both teams shot under 40 percent. The Falcons shot 35.5 percent, and the Red Foxes shot 34.6 percent for the game.
