Falcons Fall To Yale, 51-47

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -

The Falcons' 51-47 loss to Yale Thursday (Dec. 27) broke a string of 22 consecutive Falcon victories when holding the opponent to 60 points or less ... since 1991-92, the Falcons are now 46-3 when holding foes to 60 points or fewer.

BGSU held Yale to just 18 field goals on the night, a season-low total for a Falcon opponent ... Yale shot just .321 from the field for the game, marking the third time this year that BG held the opposition to a field-goal pct. of .325 or lower.

Senior Dana Western-Schuka had eight steals in the game, a career high ... in fact, her total was just one away from the school record, set by Melissa Chase on Nov. 28, 1980 (vs. Northern Illinois) ... Western-Schuka's previous career best was three steals, set on seven occasions ... vs. Yale, she had four steals in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the second half.

Sophomore Kelly Kapferer had the second double-double of her career, and of the season, with 12 points and 10 rebounds vs. Yale ... Kapferer now has grabbed 10 rebounds on three occasions this year.

The total of 98 points in the game marked the lowest two-team total in nearly 11 years, and that other game was played at Miami as well (albeit a different Miami) ... the 51-47 loss to Yale, played at the University of Miami, was the lowest two-team output since a 50-44 Falcon win at Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) in a MAC game on Jan. 2, 1991.

Senior Francine Miller and redshirt sophomore Pam Brown, both looking to return from injuries, have begun practicing with the Falcons once again ... Miller suited up for the Yale game, but did not see action ... both players will likely miss the Lehigh game, but should be available for BGSU's next contest, the Mid-American Conference opener vs. Kent State on Jan. 2.

BGSU extended the school-record streak of consecutive games with a three-point field goal, but just barely ... the Falcons got just one trey on Thursday, from Kim Griech with 8:12 left in the game ... BG has now made at least one three-point field goal in each of the last 95 games.

Former Falcon standout Andrea Nordmann attended the Yale contest Thursday ... Nordmann, who earned four letters for the Brown and Orange (1990-93), joined Miami's Office of Athletic Compliance in August.
