Falcon Men Swim To Fourth Place in Notre Dame Invitational

In the final day of competition at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, the Falcon men finished fourth behind host Notre Dame, Oakland University and the University of Connecticut. The BG men swam season best times as they head into Christmas break.
Paul Bizzarro opened Saturday's final with a ninth place finish and a season best time in the 200 backstroke. His swim of 1:55.23 was nearly five seconds faster than the next competitor. Had he swum in the A finals heat, he would have finished seventh overall. Teammate Lee Whitson was 11th in a time of 2:01.08 and classmate Kyle O'Hara was 14th, swimming 2:07.93.
Senior Adam Brown won his heat of the 100 free in a time of 47.93, Teammate Ray Bartel was eighth, in the 200 breast, swimming 2:12.02.
Frosh swimmer Robert McRae, smashing his previous best time by nearly seven seconds, finished ninth in the 200 fly. His swim of 1:56.14 would have placed him third overall in the A heat. Teammate Kevin Anderson was 12th with a time of 1:59.16.
The Falcon divers were led by Josh Clugston who finished fifth with 235.55 points. Ian Chertieny was sixth with 226.65 points, Richard Wade was seventh with 222.20 points and Charles Rowland was eighth with 180.90 points.
The 400 free relay rounded out the meet. The A relay of Brown, McRae, Reese and Bizzarro was eighth, swimming a 3:16.24. The B relay of Anderson, Whitson, Bartel and Mohlman was 10th in a time of 3:19.69.
