ROCK HILL, S.C. - A pair of seniors homered and a freshman picked up a victory as the Bowling Green State University softball team posted an 8-3 win over North Carolina A&T Friday evening (March 16). The game was the Falcons' first in the Winthrop Invitational.
With the win, the Falcons improve to 6-5 on the season, and 4-2 on the team's current spring trip.
Play was delayed on Friday due to rain, and the Brown and Orange played just one of two scheduled games. BGSU scored in four of six innings against NC A&T.
Senior Jen Domschot was 3-for-3 at the plate, slamming a two-run homer, while classmate Lynsey Ebel had a 2-for-2 effort and a two-run blast of her own.
For Domschot, the homer was her second of the season and the 10th of her career. She is just one behind BGSU career leader Colleen Bates, who had 11 from 1997-2000. Ebel's first homer of the year gave her nine in her career, good for third place on the school list.
The Falcons held a 7-3 edge in hits. North Carolina A&T committed five errors to the Falcons' one in the game.
Freshman Jody Johnson picked up her first collegiate win in the victory.
The Falcons are scheduled to face both Saint Louis and Virginia Tech in Saturday (March 17) action in the Winthrop Invitational, with elimination-round games to follow.
