ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Michigan recorded a 7-0 victory over the Bowling Green State University men's tennis team Thursday afternoon (March 22). The non-conference dual match was held at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines (6-6) swept all three doubles matches and the six singles contests in straight sets for the win over the Falcons (10-7).
Michigan gained a 1-0 advantage in the match with a pair of 8-5 victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots. The doubles sweep was completed with an 8-4 victory by junior Henry Beam and sophomore Chris Shaya at the top doubles spot.
The Wolverines, ranked 55th in the latest ITA rankings, then captured all six singles sets, taking first-set tiebreakers at each of the top-two flights. BGSU's singles competitors, in order from flights one through six, were junior Vitek Wild, sophomore Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo, freshman Nick Moxley, sophomore Micael Lopez-Acevedo, senior Brandon Gabel and junior Ed Kuresman.
The Falcons, ranked 75th in the nation in the ITA rankings, return to action with a pair of Saturday (March 24) matches. BGSU will face the University at Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference opener, then will meet host St. Bonaventure University later in the day. Both matches will take place in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
