BGSU's Scott Dukate Named to Verizon Academic All-District Team

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University student-athlete Scott Dukate (Temperance, Mich.) was named today to the 2001 Baseball Verizon Academic All-District team for District IV as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Dukate is a senior third baseman for BGSU coach Danny Schmitz. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is tied for the team lead in home runs with 13, two off the school record. Dukate is batting .327 in 45 games played, having started 36. He also has 11 doubles and 38 runs driven in for the 35-13 Falcons.
He was one of 11 student-athletes from eight different NCAA Division I institutions selected to the 2001 All-District team. To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his career. District IV includes all schools within the states of Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Michigan.
The names of the 11 athletes will appear on the Verizon Academic All-America national ballot. The Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-America Baseball team will be announced on June 5, 2001.
Dukate has a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in special education. He is a member of the Big Falcon/Little Falcon program and is the son of Al and Linda Dukate.
