Muncie, Ind. - Senior outfielder Lee Morrison was selected to the Mid-American Conference First Team on Wednesday by league coaches in Muncie, Ind. It marked the first time the Stow, Ohio native made the all-league team.
Morrison became BGSU's single-season record holder in home runs (16) and RBIs (58) last Sunday, May 13, in the Falcons' final regular-season game at the University of Akron. He ended the regular season with a .390 batting average and a .723 slugging percentage.
Other Falcons recognized by league coaches were catcher Tim Newell (second team), second baseman Corey Loomis (second team), third baseman Scott Dukate (second team), outfielder Len Elias (second team) and starting pitcher Craig Menke (second team). Elias is the only repeat performer to make the All-MAC team. He was a second team selection in 1999 as a freshman.
Kent State's John VanBenschoten (first baseman) was the MAC's Player of the Year, Ball State's Bryan Bullington (RHP) was Pitcher of the Year, and Ball State coach Rich Maloney was tabbed Coach of the Year in the Mid-American Conference.
