Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Dan Dakich has announced that John Reimold, a 6-6, 215 lb., forward who was the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year for Loyola (Md.) this past season, will transfer to Bowling Green and be eligible for the Falcons in November of 2002. He will have three years of eligibility.
"We are excited that John has decided to come to Bowling Green," said Dakich. "He is an outstanding player who we have known for a long time."
Reimold was fifth in the conference in scoring averaging 15.6 points for the Greyhounds. He also was second in the league in three-point field goal percentage (42.7/70 of 164) and eighth in field goal percentage (46.1/147/319). He also averaged five rebounds per game.
The Greenville, Pa., native attended Dakich's summer camp during his days as a prep at Kennedy Christian High School. A three-year letterman for Coach Joe Votino, Reimold was the Pennsylvania Small School Player of the Year as a senior and an overall first-team All-State choice. He led his team to three straight Class A state titles and finished as his school's all-time leading scorer. He averaged 22 points and nine rebounds as a senior and 19 points and 10 rebounds as a junior. He was a McDonald's All-America nominee as a senior.
