Echler Fails to Qualify for Finals at USA Championship

Bowling Green - Bowling Green State University's Joy Echler failed to qualify for the finals of the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase at the GMC Envoy USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday night, finishing ninth in heat number two (10:52.21). The time that qualified her for the meet was 10:37.66 earlier this spring.
The Falcon sophomore's time was the 25th best out of the 43 that competed yesterday at the University of Oregon. Of the three heats, the top three automatically advance to the finals, along with the next five best times.
Echler was the first female Falcon to compete at the USA Championship since Nikki Lessig (shot put) in 1994.
