Bowling Green - Bowling Green State University hockey coach Buddy Powers has been selected to sit on the NCAA Division I Ice Hockey Committee as a representative of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and BGSU. Powers fills the void created by Wayne State University coach Bill Wilkerson, whose four-year term ended this year.
Powers, entering his eighth season as head of the Falcon hockey program, will begin a four-year term of his own on the committee, his first time to sit on such a panel.
"My intent is to do as good a job for Division I hockey programs as I can," Powers said.
The four-person committee is made up of chairman Jack McDonald (Quinnipiac Athletic Director), Ian McCaw (Northeastern Athletic Director), Ron Grahame (Denver Athletic Director) and Powers.
Powers was nominated for the vacancy by the CCHA. The selection of Powers to the committee was made by the NCAA's Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet at its July meeting.
