CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team has been picked to tie for ninth in the Mid-American Conference in 2001. The prediction is the result of the annual coaches poll. The Falcons finished ninth at last year's MAC Championship and 13th at the Great Lakes Regional.
The Brown and Orange of head coach Cami Wells earned 54 points in the poll.
Toledo was the preseason favorite of the coaches, receiving 124 points and seven first-place votes. Three schools abstained from voting in the women's poll.
The Rockets finished fourth in last year's MAC meet. UT is followed by Kent State (115), defending champion Central Michigan (108), Akron and Ball State (95 each), Miami (93), Ohio (72), Eastern Michigan (55), BGSU and Western Michigan (54 each), Buffalo (31), Marshall (18) and Northern Illinois (12).
The Falcons open the 2001 season on Sept. 8, competing at the Ohio University Dual in Athens.
