Men's Cross Country Places 18th In New York

BRONX, N.Y. - The Bowling Green State University men's cross country team posted an 18th-place finish in the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions Saturday morning (Sept. 29). The 25-team race was held at Van Cortlandt Park, with Iona College serving as the host school.
The race featured six teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest Mondo/NCAA Division I top-25 national poll.
The Falcons posted a team score of 539 points. Dartmouth won the team title with a total of 81 points, followed by Princeton (93) and Cornell (101).
Individually, senior Tom Kutter was the first Falcon to cross the line in the 8,000-meter race. Kutter was 50th among a total of 283 finishers, posting a time of 26:02.9. Dartmouth's Tom McArdle was the individual winner in a time of 24:42.9.
Sophomore Justin Perez was the second Falcon finisher, placing 131st in a time of 26:57.9. Other BGSU competitors included senior Chad Kunkle (170th, 27:24.7), junior Andy Artiaga (180th, 27:29.1), seniors Rob Glatz (200th, 27:45.2) and Austin Chapin (212th, 27:57.6), sophomore Paul Niedzwiecki (215th, 28:01.3) and sophomore Steve Blasko (251st, 28:55.9).
The Falcons will return to action on Friday (Oct. 5) at the Notre Dame Invitational.
