BGSU Men's Basketball Schedule
September 06, 2001 | Men's Basketball
Sept. 6, 2001
Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will face one of the most challenging schedules in school-history when it potentially could face five teams which competed in post-season play during the non-conference portion of the 2001-2002 schedule.
The Falcons, who return four starters and nine lettermen from last years team which finished 15-14, will open the season November 15 against Ole Miss at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. Ole Miss was 27-8 a year ago and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. In Alaska, BGSU also could face Butler, a team which finished 24-8 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Falcons also are scheduled to play at Indiana State (December 29), a team which finished 22-12 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Falcons also will play at Duquesne (December 5) and at Evansville (December 15).
BGSU's home schedule is extremely attractive with visitors including Michigan (November 28), Marist (December 1), UNC-Wilmington (December 10) and Detroit (December 22). UNCW and Detroit both appeared in the NIT.
BGSU opens the MAC season on the road at defending regular season champion Central Michigan, January 3.
