CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has announced the 2001 MAC Women's Soccer Honor Roll, and six members of the Bowling Green State University team were among those honored.
Seniors Annmarie Aparo (3.45 grade point average/health science) and Adrienne Graessle (3.22/international business), juniors Jill Conover (3.88/computer science), Erika Flanders (3.28/art education) and Tracy Gleixner (3.19/secondary education) and sophomore Kasey Freeman (3.00/apparel merchandising) all were named to the team.
Aparo becomes the first-ever Falcon to be named to the Honor Roll three times. The MAC Honor Roll is in its third year of existence. Conover, Flanders and Gleixner all earn the honor for the second time in their respective careers.
To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and earn a letter for the current season. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible, as a student-athlete must have attended the institution for an entire year to qualify for the award.
Additionally, the conference office has reinstituted the Academic All-MAC Team after a two-year absence, and three Falcons have been named to that squad. Aparo, Conover and Flanders all are Academic All-MAC Team members for 2001.
To be named to the Academic All-MAC Team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.
The Falcons finished the 2001 season with an overall record of 7-10-2, and BGSU finished with a 2-9-1 MAC mark.
