Bowling Green, Ohio -
Urban Meyer Quotes
On BGSU seniors...
We needed a win and that group of seniors really came out and played hard today. A win in Division I football is something and this is our ninth one. Our seniors have won 17 games over the last two years and have an opportunity to go and get 18. I am very proud of them and very proud of their effort. Our focus is now on a big game next week and I think it will be great for Northwest Ohio. The only focus we have is to play hard next week.
Undefeated Record this season at Doyt Perry Stadium...
We were 4-1 last year in this stadium and 6-0 this year, which is a pretty good run. Everyone talks about playing their last game in Doyt Perry Stadium and I made it real clear today that Doyt Perry Stadium is a structure. It's a tough place to play. It's a goal that we have to win every game at home and anytime you go 6-0 at home it's something to be proud of.
BGSU Player Quotes:
About the legacy they will leave at Bowling Green...
Robert Redd: Being the last game at home, it feels really good to come out winners today and to go undefeated in our home stadium.
Greg Kupke: This is a big game for us in terms of momentum. We obviously have been struggling the last few weeks, so it was important to come out and play the way we did.
D.J. Owchar: I'm just happy to get back into the win column. Those two weeks were tough.
What was the mind-set for the team after the two loses?
Robert Redd: We wanted to come out since it was our last game here. We just wanted to come out here and play hard. We struggled the last few weeks. We just weren't playing Bowling Green football.
About the defense producing some turnovers...
We were giving 100% on every play. That's going to happen when you make big hits, making that ball pop out. With what were trying to do on defense that will just happen.
About getting that rhythm back on offense...
Greg Kupke: It was extremely important to get some continuity back for the offense. We made some very uncharacteristic mistakes the last few weeks. You obviously saw what we can do when we don't make those mistakes. It was huge for us to come out and play the way we did.
EMU Coach Jeff Woodruff
On Eagle Turnovers...
You can't turn the ball over once against a good team, let alone five times. It seemed like more. That's huge. It's no different than what we did against Toledo. You've got to play sound in all three phases of the game - offense, defense, kicking - to even have a chance. But with those turnovers we had absolutely no chance.
On Falcon Passing game...
We had two walk-on corners, Lewis and Black, they kept attacking. That was smart on their part.
On EMU Defense...
We just need to make a lot of strides in a lot of ways, specifically defense. A year from now we won't be playing with walk-ons. We'll have 85 scholarships.
On Close Game After First Quarter...
At that point we were trying to win the time of possession battle; don't turn the ball over; and give yourself a chance. But then we turned the ball over twice. At that point it was essentially over because we were out of our game-plan.
