BGSU's Shaun Suisham Named Semifinalist for 2002 Lou Groza Award.

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green kicker Shaun Suisham has been named a semifinalist for the 2002 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award.
Suisham is one of 20 semifinalists for this year's award, which is presented by the FedEx Orange Bowl. The award will be given out during a ceremony on Tuesday, December 10, at the Sheraton West Palm Beach Hotel at CityPlace in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The redshirt-sophomore has been perfect in his field goal tries (10-for-10) and has made 46-of-47 extra point attempts (new school record) this season. He has connected on 83 of his last 84 extra point attempts. His longest field this year is of 43 yards. He is second on BGSU's team and in the Mid-American Conference in scoring with 76 points. His 76 points and 9.5 points per game is 14th in the nation, as well. Suisham is 25th in the country in field goals made per game (1.29).
The voters for the Lou Groza Award are comprised of all Division I head coaches, sports writers and sportscasters from across the country, conference officials, various NFL kickers, and all previous Lou Groza Award finalists.
The three finalists for the Lou Groza Award will be announced on November 18. The award, now in its 11th year, is named for NFL Hall-of-Fame kicker Lou Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Nicknamed "The Toe," Groza was one of the first people to truly make kicking an art form, and he helped usher in to football the idea that a player could be used exclusively for kicking.
