BGSU Sweeps Wright State, 7-0

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team won at every singles flight to complete a 7-0 victory over Wright State University in dual-match play Saturday (Feb. 2). The match was held at Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo.
The win gives the Falcons a 1-2 dual-match record on the young season.
The hosts captured the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. Senior Devon Bissinger and freshman Susan Schoenberger won an 8-2 decision at the top flight, while sophomores Gaby Coello and Jessica Johnson were winners at the third level.
In singles, the Falcons captured every match, with Schoenberger winning her fourth-flight contest by a 6-0, 6-0 result. Sophomore Lisa Maloney won at the top flight, while junior Alyson Gabel was victorious at the third flight. Both Maloney and Gabel lost a total of just three games in their respective wins.
Bissinger rallied from a first-set loss to post a win at the second flight, while freshman Laura Kokinda won a third-set tiebreaker at the fifth flight. Coello rounded out the singles sweep with a win at the sixth level.
The Falcons now head to East Lansing, Mich., for a Sunday (Feb. 3) morning match vs. Michigan State University. That contest is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
