Women's Track and Field Team Takes on Florida State In First Outdoor Meet of 2002

The Bowling Green Women's Track and Field squad began its 2002 outdoor season with a good showing at the Snow Bird Invitational last weekend. The Falcons posted two first, three second, two fourth and two sixth place finishes over the spring break trip.
The lone 1st place finish belonged to sophomore Kerri McClung in the shot put. She threw for a distance of 49-05.50 to earn top honors. Seniors Lori Williams and Janean Johnson placed 6th and 9th respectively in the shot with distances of 43-01.75 and 41-07.00. Williams also faired well in the hammer throw placing 1st and went on to earn a 2nd place in the discus with a throw of 147-00.00. Junior Mary Willems placed 2nd in the hammer throw and 6th in the shot put with a 139-07.00 throw.
BG also finished well in the 800 meter run with senior Christine Thompson placing 4th with a time of 2:14.45. Sophomore Alicia Taylor also earned a 4th place finish in the 100 meter low hurdles event with a time of 14.56. The Falcon 4x400 relay team placed 2nd with a time of 3:48.69.
The Falcons next meet will be next week when BG travels south to the Cincinnati Invitational.
