Falcon Gymnasts Gear Up For Conference Championship

Bowling Green's Gymnastics team, 17-1 overall and 6-0 in the Mid-American Conference, head into this weekend's MAC Championships the top seed. The Falcons won the MAC regular season title over two weeks ago en route to a record breaking win over Pittsburgh. The 2002 squad is now the winningest in school history, topping the 1978-79 squad which went 16-2.
The Championships are a one-day event which will include all seven MAC teams -- Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois and host school, Ball State. Kent State is the 2001 defending MAC Champs and the winner of eight overall titles. Central Michigan also boasts an experienced program with eight championships. BG is third in the number of total championships won with three, followed by Western Michigan with two.
The event begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 at BSU's Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University.
