BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's tennis senior Mike Kossoff continues his climb up the school's career win lists. Kossoff, a native of Syosset, N.Y., has moved into a tie for second place on the BGSU career list for singles victories.
Kossoff, who downed Western Michigan's Thomas Dennis by a 6-0, 6-2 score Saturday (April 6), now has a total of 88 singles victories as a Falcon. That mark ties Ryan Gabel (1995-98) for second place on that career list. Kossoff's teammate and classmate, Vitek Wild, holds the school record with 94 singles victories.
Kossoff has a total of 151 combined career wins, good for sole possession of second place on that list. Wild, the school's career leader with 177 total wins, also sits atop the doubles chart with 83 such victories in his BGSU tenure.
Two other Falcons, juniors Geoff Hiscox and Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo, continue their climb up the school lists as well. Hiscox currently has 131 total wins to rank ninth in BGSU history, while Lopez-Acevedo is tied for 12th with 125 victories. Senior Ed Kuresman also is ranked among the winningest 20 players in school history (111, T-19th).
Hiscox is tied for seventh on the singles win list, with 65, and is eighth with 66 doubles wins. Lopez-Acevedo is tied for 10th with 64 singles victories, and ranks 13th in doubles wins (61).
Kossoff (63 doubles wins) is tied for 10th on the latter list. Kuresman ranks 17th on the singles chart (60).
The Falcons (14-9, 1-0 MAC) opened the Mid-American Conference schedule on a successful note Saturday, defeating defending league tourney champion WMU by a 7-0 result. BGSU hits the road for the next two contests, beginning with a Wednesday (April 10) dual against ninth-ranked Kentucky.
