BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University department of athletics has named a pair of full-time assistant athletic trainers, director of athletics Paul Krebs and head athletic trainer Ed Orr have announced. Jon Willey and Chad Young will join Orr's staff.
Willey joins the Falcon program from Washington State University, where he has spent the past three years. He began at WSU in August of 1999 as an intern/assistant athletic trainer, and most recently served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Willey's duties at BGSU will include overseeing training responsibilities for the Falcon hockey program.
In his time in Pullman, Willey has been the head trainer for the Cougar track and field and cross country teams. Young has served as the primary athletic trainer for the BGSU men's basketball program over the past two years, and also has overseen the training responsibilities for baseball, tennis and volleyball.
Young began as a student trainer in the BGSU department of athletics in 1996, and later served as a graduate assistant trainer before assuming full-time duties. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health education with a minor in athletic training from BGSU in 1999, and received his Master of Education degree in developmental kinesiology in August of 2001.
