WBGU-FM To Serve As Flagship for Hockey and Women's Basketball

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University department of athletics and the Bowling Green Radio Sports Organization (BGRSO) have reached an agreement to have WBGU-FM (88.1) serve as the flagship station for men's hockey and women's basketball for the 2002-03 academic year. The group will produce live broadcasts during the regular season for 36 hockey and 24 women's basketball games. The group also would carry any post-season action for either team.
"We are excited to partner with BGRSO and WBGU Radio," said Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "This will increase the amount of coverage for our women's basketball program and provide a consistent home for our hockey broadcasts."
The BGRSO, a student-run organization, also carries all football games and selected men's basketball and baseball games during the academic year. The broadcasters will vary on a game-to-game basis for the women's basketball games, but local radio personality Matt Melzak will serve as the play-by-play voice for Falcon hockey this season and will be joined by a student analyst. Melzak can be heard weekdays on on WLQR-AM (1470) as the co-host of The Front Row, the only daily local talk show dedicated to sports, and each hockey season as the co-host of Face Off-The Hockey Show.
Game produced by BGRSO can be heard on bgrso.org and hockey and women's basketball contests will be available on the Real One Package available through bgsufalcons.com.
