Falcons Go West to Take On Nebraska-Omaha (Jan. 31 - Feb. 1)
Bowling Green travels west to Omaha, Neb., for a two-game CCHA series with the University of Nebraska-Omaha (Jan. 31 - Feb. 1) at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Both games are scheduled for a 8:05 EST faceoffs and can be heard on WBGU, 88.1 FM.
BGSU vs. Nebraska-Omaha (10-13-3 overall, 8-11-1 CCHA)
The two teams meet for the only time this season when the Falcons travel to Omaha for a Friday-Saturday series with the Mavericks. UNO is coming off of a two-game sweep of #6 Ohio State at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, but have lost six of their last 10. BGSU trails the series with UNO 3-7-1 and have won just twice in Omaha (2-5-0). Last season, at the BGSU Ice Arena, the two teams tied in game one (2-2, Nov. 30, 2002) and UNO won the second game (2-1, Dec. 1, 2002). Only two of the 11 all-time matchups have been decided by more than two goals.

Jan. 21 - BGSU 4, Wayne State 3 FR Mike Falk scored the game-winner with just 13 seconds remaining in the third period to give BGSU a 4-3 win over Wayne State in Joe Louis Arena on Jan. 21. The Falcons scored three goals in the final 13:25 of the third period, including two from SR Tyler Knight, to overcome a 3-1 deficit. JR Kevin Bieksa scored first for BGSU at 10:25 of the first period with the first short-handed goal of his career. JR Mark Wires assisted on Knight's two goals while Alex Rogosheske, D'Arcy McConvey and Brian Escobedo earned helpers as well. WSU outshot BGSU 35-33 and were 2-for-5 on the power play. SO Jordan Sigalet had 32 saves in net for the Falcons.
Wires Racking Up the Points
JR Mark Wires had two assists in the 4-3 win over Wayne State on Jan. 21 at Joe Louis Arena. The winger improved his current point streak to three games (second time this season) and has registered a point in seven of his last nine games played (3-7--10 during that span). He is second on the team in points in 23 games played (8-9--17).
Two-for-Tyler Once Again
SR Tyler Knight scored two goals in a span of less than 10 minutes in the third period vs. Wayne State on Jan. 21, helping the Falcons to a come-from-behind 4-3 win at Joe Louis Arena. It marked the second time this season that the assistant captain scored twice in a game. The previous time came in the first period vs. #7-ranked Boston College on Dec. 27, over a span of less than five minutes. Four of Knight's six goals this season have come in those two games.
Bieksa Ties Career Point Streak
JR Kevin Bieksa tied his career-long point streak of four games on Jan. 21 vs. Wayne State with a short-handed goal. The defenseman has scored 3-2--5 over the last four games to tie his career-best point streak from his freshman campaign (Nov. 4, 2000 to Nov. 24, 2000). The Vancouver draft pick has scored a point in six of his last eight games (3-5--8). He is fifth in scoring among defensemen in the CCHA and T-18th among defensemen nationally.
Falk Notches First GWG vs. Wayne State
FR Mike Falk scored the first game-winning goal of his career and became the sixth different Falcon to net a GWG this season with his last-second heroics on Jan. 21 vs. Wayne State. The Davisburg, Mich. native scored with 13 seconds remaining in the third period at Joe Louis Arena to give BGSU a 4-3 win over Wayne State. Falk leads all freshmen with nine assists and 13 points in 22 games. He has scored a point in six of his last nine games played (2-5--7) and 10 of his 13 points this season have come in league play (3g, 7a).
Sigalet Gets Fourth Win of Season
SO Jordan Sigalet earned his fourth victory this season by making 32 saves on 35 shots faced on Jan. 21 vs. Wayne State for a 4-3 win. Sigalet has won three of his last four starts and is fourth in the CCHA and 21st in the nation with a .912 save percentage.
