BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's basketball fans get their first chance to see the Falcons in action Monday night (Nov. 3), and the price is more than right. The Falcons of third-year coach Curt Miller will meet the Premier All-Stars in the team's lone exhibition game, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena, and admission is free to all fans.
Miller and his staff welcome back six letterwinners from a year ago, including senior co-captains Lindsay Austin and Stefanie Wenzel. Austin and Wenzel, the Falcons' two returning starters from 2002-03, are joined by juniors Tene Lewis and Sakima Smith and sophomores JIll Lause and Marisa Smith.
Additionally, the Falcons have nine players on the roster who did not play on last year's team. That list includes redshirt junior Kelly Kapferer, who earned two letters for the Brown and Orange before sitting out last season, and redshirt sophomore Casey McDowell, who practiced with the Falcons last winter after transferring from Indiana State University.
Seven freshmen round out the BGSU roster, including Amber Flynn, Julie Gompers, Liz Honegger, Carin Horne, Ali Mann, Kim Nowakowski and Megan Thorburn. The Falcons have the most newcomers on the roster in two decades.
Monday's game marks the Falcons' lone exhibition of the 2003-04 campaign. BGSU opens the regular season with a Nov. 22 game at Youngstown State, and the Falcons will begin the home portion of the non-conference slate with a Nov. 25 game vs. Detroit.
