Bowling Green Continues Five-Game Road Trip
BGSU will continue its five-game road trip with two games at ECAC schools this weekend (Nov. 21-22). The Falcons play #11-ranked Cornell on Friday, Nov. 21, and then travel to Colgate for an afternoon game on Saturday, Nov. 22. Saturday's game vs. Colgate will be joined in progress on 88.1 FM, WBGU, following the BGSU-Ball State football game.
BGSU vs. #11 Cornell
The Falcons will play Cornell for the first time since Dec. 27, 1998, when the two teams met in the Badger Showdown in Milwaukee, Wis. BGSU defeated the Big Red, 3-2, in overtime. BGSU leads the all-time series 4-1-0 with the one loss coming in the first meeting between the two schools on Dec. 30, 1977 (5-3 Falcon loss). The 5-3 loss was the only time BGSU has played Cornell on its home ice in James Lynah Rink (3,836 att.).
BGSU vs. Colgate
BGSU plays its only afternoon game of the season when it travels to Colgate on Nov. 22 (3 p.m. faceoff). The Falcons lead the series with the Raiders 4-0-0 with the last meeting coming Jan. 18, 1997 (5-3 Falcon win at home). This will be the first time BGSU has played Colgate on its home ice in Starr Rink (2,246 att.).
Career Numbers vs. #11 Cornell/Colgate
First Meeting for all players
Colgate Connection with BGSU
BGSU second-year assistant coach Ron Fogarty is a 1995 graduate of Colgate, where he played for the Raider hockey team from 1992-95. Fogarty dressed for a school-record 135-consecutive games and was named to the 1992 ECAC All-Rookie team. He registered career-numbers of 51-90--141 and ranks 20th on the school's all-time scoring list.
Penalty Kill Stiffles Opponents
The Falcon penalty kill has been superb, giving up just four goals in 58 opponent power-play opportunities. BGSU's .931 penalty-kill pct. is currently ranked first overall in the CCHA and fourth nationally, behind only Brown (94.4), Ala.-Huntsville (94.1), and Union (93.7). BGSU has held opponents scoreless on 36-straight power plays (six games), dating back to Oct. 24 vs. Union.
Dobek Gets Into Scoring Mix
SO Bryan Dobek scored his first two collegiate goals in a 4-2 loss to Lake Superior on Nov. 14. Dobek became the 12th different Falcon to net a goal this season and the fourth Falcon newcomer to score a goal. He now has 2-2--4 in 10 games.
More Special Teams for BGSU
BGSU netted a power-play goal in four-straight games from Oct. 25-Nov. 7, finishing 2-0-2 during that stretch. The Falcons are 3-0-2 when scoring a PPG this season, but have an overall power-play pct. of .136 (8-for-59), 11th in the CCHA.
