Bowling Green Ends Five-Game Road Trip
BGSU will end its five-game road trip with a Tuesday night league contest at Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season and the only Tuesday night affair of the year for the Falcons, who are coming off a two-game road trip to #11 Cornell and Colgate last weekend.
BGSU vs. Western Michigan
BGSU leads the all-time series vs. WMU, 66-44-4. However, the Falcons are 0-6-1 in their last seven meetings with five of those games being decided by two goals or less and three going to overtime. The last Falcon victory over WMU came Feb. 23, 2001, in Bowling Green (4-2). The last Falcon win in Kalamazoo was over four years ago, Oct. 23, 1999 (5-4).
Western Michigan Broncos
WMU enters Tuesday's game with four players in double digits for season points, led by Vince Bellissimo who has a team-high nine assists to go along with five goals. Dana Lattery (6-7--13), Brent Walton (6-7--13), and Jeff Campbell (5-7--12) are the team's other leading scorers. Goalies Scott Foster (3.30 gaa./.883 save pct.) and Mike Mantua (4.10 gaa./..872 save pct.) have each spent time between the posts.
Sigalet Named CCHA Defensive POW
JR goalie Jordan Sigalet was named the CCHA Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 24. Sigalet stopped 60 of 63 shots faced this past weekend (.952 save pct.) and had a 1.39 gaa., finishing with two ties in 129:57 minutes of action at #11 Cornell and Colgate. Sigalet had 36 saves vs. the Big Red, the third-straight game with 30-or-more saves. The junior also led a penalty kill that stopped nine of 11 power-play tries in two games.
Penalty-Kill Streak Snapped at 39
#11 Cornell scored a PPG on their fourth try Nov. 21 vs. BGSU. The PPG snapped 39-straight penalty kills by the Falcons, dating back to Oct. 24 vs. Union (six-plus games). BGSU finished the weekend killing off nine of 11 opponent power plays and currently has a penalty-kill percentage of .913 (63-of-69), tops in the CCHA and third in the nation.
Power-Play Goals...Good
BGSU improved its record to 3-0-3 when scoring a power-play goal. BGSU netted a power-play goal in four-straight games from Oct. 25-Nov. 7, finishing 2-0-2 during that stretch. The Falcons are 0-5-2 when they do not score a PPG.
BGSU On the Verge
The Falcons have lost just one game in their last eight contests (2-1-5). BGSU began the year losing four of its first five games.
Black Ties, Bow Ties, Falcon Ties
For the first time in school history the Falcons have played to three-straight ties. The last time BGSU even played in three-straight games that went to overtime was Oct. 30-Nov. 6, 1987, when the Falcons went 2-0-1. The most overtime games played in a season by the Falcons is 11 during the 1991-92 season.
More Ties...
BGSU now has five ties this season. The school record for ties in a season is six set in 2001-02.
