Bowling Green Continues Four-Game Homestand
BGSU continues a four-game homestand this weekend with a two-game series against 2003 CCHA Champion Ferris State (Dec. 5-6). Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. faceoffs.
BGSU vs. Ferris State
The Falcons lead the all-time series, 47-36-9, including a 30-16-4 edge at home against the Bulldogs. However, FSU has won six-straight against BGSU and have averaged 5.6 goals-per-game in those wins. The last Falcon win vs. FSU was March 2, 2001, in overtime (1-0).
Ferris State Bulldogs
Ferris State was the 2003 CCHA Regular Season champions after compiling a 22-5-1 league mark. Goalie Mike Brown returns from last year and has a 3.23 gaa. and .885 save pct. in 14 games (834:59 minutes). Brett Smith is FSU's top point leader (7 goals, 7 assists) while Derek Nesbitt has a team-high eight assists.
Falcons Shut Out On Power Play
BGSU has been shut out on the power play in its last three games (0-for-15). The last PPG for the Falcons came Nov. 21 vs. #11 Cornell. BGSU is 3-0-3 when scoring a PPG and 0-7-2 when it doesn't.
Penalty-Kill Pct. Dips a Bit
The Falcons began last week with the third-best penalty-kill pct. in the nation at .913 (63-of-69). WMU and #8 OSU combined to score on half of their power-play attempts vs. BGSU (4-for-8) in two games, lowering the Falcons' penalty-kill pct. to .870 (67-of-77), 15th nationally.
Goals Hard to Come by for Both Sides
BGSU was shutout for the third time this season with its 7-0 loss to OSU on Nov. 29. The Falcons are averaging 2.1 goals per game while opponents are only scoring 2.9 goals per game against BGSU in 15 games.
Sigalet's 30-Something
Jordan Sigalet made 31 saves in a 4-3 OT loss at WMU on Nov. 25, his sixth game this season where he has made 30-plus saves in a game. He leads the CCHA with 412 saves and is averaging 27.47 saves per game. He leads the nation with 924:56 minutes played.
Falcons Committing Fewer Penalties
BGSU had just one penalty at WMU on Nov. 25. The Falcons are third in the league with 13.40 PIM per game and are fourth in overall penalty minutes (201).
