Bowling Green, Ohio - Senior Alissa Davies led the Bowling Green in day one of the 2003 Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 50 free at Samuel Cooper Natatorium.
Davies finished in a time of 23.94 for her highest placing at the MAC Meet since her freshman year when she placed fourth in the 50 free. Her preliminary time of 23.83 earlier in the day was a new career-best and was just over one-tenth of a second behind the BGSU school record of 23.72 (Shari Williams, 1988).
Freshman Stephanie Buckner finished eighth in the 50 free to give the Falcons two finishers in the top eight. Buckner registered a time of 24.22 in the finals, but had a career-best time of 23.99 in the preliminaries, just behind Davies.
