Falcons Remain Seventh After Day Two of MAC Championships

Bowling Green, Ohio - Senior Kelley O'Hara had Bowling Green's top finish in day two of the Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, placing third in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.62. Meanwhile, co-captain Sarah Agnew turned in two top-eight finishes, placing fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.83) and sixth in the 400 IM (4:33.20).
O'Hara's finish of third was her highest ever at the MAC Championships. She swam a time of 1:52.39 in the preliminaries of the 200 free, a new career-best and fourth all-time at BGSU. Freshman Stephanie Buckner finished 16th in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.81, but registered a career-best 1:54.42 in the preliminaries.
Agnew's preliminary time of 4:31.54 in the 400 IM was a new career-best and placed her fourth all-time at BGSU. Also placing in the 100 breaststroke with Agnew was sophomore Erin Dilkes (eighth) with a time of 1:06.75 and senior Alissa Davies (15th) with a time of 1:07.43. Dilkes swam a time of 1:05.87 in her preliminary heat, bettering her previous career-best by nearly two seconds (1:07.60).
Joining Agnew in the 400 IM was freshman Kara Ohngren who finished 12th with a time of 4:35.42 (new career-best). Freshman Dana Schultz placed 14th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.60.
Junior Molly Peterson scored 397.29 in the 3-meter dive, good enough for seventh place.
BGSU's 200 medley relay placed sixth (1:47.73) and its 800 free relay finished ninth (7:45.25).
The final day of the 2003 MAC Championships will be tomorrow, March 1, at BGSU's Samuel Cooper Natatorium. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m., the 1,650 preliminaries begin at 5 p.m., and the finals set for 7 p.m.
