BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Emily Hois is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Hois, a junior on the BGSU women's swimming and diving team, helped the Falcons to a sixth-place team finish in the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Hois, a native of Marysville, Pa., helped the Brown and Orange register its highest finish in four years with the sixth-place finish in the league meet. The 2003 MAC meet was held at BGSU's Cooper Pool.
BGSU finished just six-and-a-half points behind fifth-place finisher Ball State (312.50). The last time the Falcons finished as high as sixth in the MAC Championships was in 1999 (with a team score of 289).
Hois placed sixth in the 1-meter dive (235.65) and 11th in the 3-meter event (365.01) at the conference meet, which closed the Falcons' season.
Hois, a journalism major, has a 3.43 cumulative grade point average through the fall, 2002, semester.
First-year Falcon coach Keri Buff was named the 2003 MAC Swimming Coach of the Year at the conference meet.
