D'Arcy McConvey Named to CCHA All-Academic Team

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's D'Arcy McConvey was named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic First Team, it was announced on Tuesday by the league office. He becomes the 14th Falcon to be named CCHA All-Academic First Team and the first since Curtis Valentine in 2001.
McConvey, the team captain, currently holds a 3.91 grade-point-average while majoring in financial economics. He recorded a perfect 4.00 GPA in the 2002 fall semester. He is also the team leader in points with 28 this season, one off his career-high. He has six goals and 22 assists. In 2002, he was named CCHA All-Academic Honorable Mention. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native is one of BGSU's four candidates to attend this spring's NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference.
Other Falcons recognized by the CCHA for their academic prowess were junior Kevin Bieksa (3.42 GPA, finance, honorable mention), sophomore Ben Assenmacher (3.65, biology, special mention), sophomore Steve Brudzewski (3.02, biology, special mention), and senior Tyler Masters (3.49, sport management, special mention).
For the second time since the award's inception in 1988-89, seven players representing seven different schools have been named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team. The award is voted on by the league's faculty representatives. The six players with the most votes are selected. Ties are not broken.
Western Michigan senior David Cousineau is making his second straight appearance on the team while four members -D'Arcy McConvey of Bowling Green, Derrick McIver of Ferris State, David Brisson of Nebraska-Omaha and Scott Titus of Ohio State - received honorable mention in 2001-02.
